Frequently asked questions

Below are the answers to the most frequently asked questions about our role, our way of working and how we can support you.

1. Identity and role

What is PROXYMO by Global Care Partners?+

PROXYMO by Global Care Partners is an activity dedicated to the coordination, orientation and support of care pathways, in particular between East Africa and Belgium. This activity is operated by Global Care Partners SRL and presented under its own brand identity in order to be more readable for patients, families and partners.

Is PROXYMO a separate company?+

No. PROXYMO is not a separate legal entity. It is a service brand operated by Global Care Partners SRL.

What exactly is your role in a care pathway?+

Our role is to help clarify a situation, direct it to the relevant interlocutors, coordinate certain stages of the journey and support better continuity. We do not carry out medical acts ourselves and we do not replace healthcare professionals.

2. How the support works

How does support begin?+

Support begins with an initial exchange aimed at understanding the situation, the context, the needs and, where relevant, the level of urgency. This exchange makes it possible to determine the most suitable form of orientation or coordination.

Which documents need to be provided?+

It depends on the situation. When useful, we may ask you for certain medical or administrative documents, such as reports, examination results, imaging or prescriptions, in order to better understand the need and to prepare the orientation under good conditions.

How quickly do you respond?+

We endeavour to provide an initial response within 24 to 48 hours, depending on the nature of the request and the information provided.

3. Services and coordination

Do you offer teleconsultations or second opinions?+

We can help to organise teleconsultations or second opinions when this is relevant to the journey being considered, in particular for initial orientation, clarification or an additional opinion.

Can you help to organise a care pathway in Belgium?+

Yes. PROXYMO can act as a coordination activity to prepare, structure and smooth certain stages of a care pathway in Belgium, when this is among the options considered for the situation.

Can you help to find accommodation near the hospital in Belgium?+

Depending on needs, we can help you identify accommodation suited to the length of the stay, the medical situation and the budget, near the relevant facilities. Accommodation costs, however, remain your responsibility and are paid directly to the provider, with no commission from us.

Do you work only remotely?+

A significant part of our work takes place remotely, in particular for exchanges, analysis, orientation and coordination. But depending on the situation, support may also include a more concrete dimension, for example during certain stages of the journey in Belgium, while respecting the role of each party involved.

Can you arrange support during certain appointments?+

When the situation warrants it, it is possible to organise human support to help better understand medical exchanges, prepare questions and clarify certain points, without interfering with the doctors’ clinical decisions.

Do you offer nursing care or a care assistant in Belgium?+

In certain cases and through Global Care Partners, nursing or care-assistant support may be organised during a stay in Belgium or after a hospitalisation, depending on the needs, the feasibility and the appropriate framework. These interventions do not replace hospital care or medical decisions, and are examined on a case-by-case basis.

Do you arrange the sending of medication?+

In certain strictly regulated situations, the sending of medication from Belgium may be arranged through the competent channels and partners, on a valid medical prescription and in compliance with applicable rules. Not all medication can be sent; this possibility is therefore assessed on a case-by-case basis.

4. Limits of our role

Do you perform medical acts?+

No. Medical acts, diagnoses, prescriptions and clinical decisions are exclusively the responsibility of the competent professionals and institutions. PROXYMO acts as a coordination and support activity.

Do you handle visas, plane tickets or official procedures?+

No. Visa applications, the purchase of plane tickets and official procedures remain your responsibility. We can help you to better understand certain steps and to prepare a journey, but we do not substitute ourselves for the authorities or the providers competent for those procedures.

Do you receive patients at your address?+

No. The address provided is the registered office. It is not a place open to the public; support takes place remotely, in the field or in suitable settings depending on the situation.
